Delivery of the new amenities building at Shellharbour Tourist Park consisted of asbestos removal, staged demolition and construction of a new facility while the park remained fully operational. Some of the challenges encountered during this project included the heritage nature of the site – the park is located over the districts original settler cemetery and unforeseen upgrades to services while keeping the facility operational through peak tourist season.
The selection of building materials and modifications to design in consultation with the operators has delivered a building that is both functional and in keeping with the aesthetics of the park and its surrounds. Both the operators and owners of the facility have been happy that the project has been delivered ahead of programme and within the budget.
